Hebrews 1-6

The book of Hebrews tells us that faith is substance and without it is impossible to please God. Not improbable but impossible. For he that comes unto God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Not His resources, revelations, blessings, wisdom, principles, our destinies etc but

Him. Some have said that faith is a radical commitment to obey God. We see the chronicles of the patriarchs of Old Testament in the 11th chapter of Hebrews which we call the Hall of Faith that impacted the world for God. The testimony of the scriptures is that the world was not worthy of them. There is a revelation that each of the heroes received that I believe is given little or no attention in much of our faith teaching.

The missing revelation is that the Lord doesn’t expect us to just have faith-belief because it is a commandment but the result of a revelation of Him and a revelation of ourselves in Him. The Bible let us know that our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Col 3:3  The Lord tells us that if we lose our lives for his sake and the Gospel’s we will find our lives. If we find our “own” lives we will lose our lives (the life that he has for us). Mark 8:35

  • Abraham walked into a continuous flow of God revealing Himself to him and the Lord proceeded to reveal Abraham to himself. Genesis 15:1- 25:11

  • Moses walked in a continuous flow of God revealing Himself to him and the Lord revealed Moses to himself (the life that God had for him) Books of Exodus through Deuteronomy

  • Gideon became a mighty deliver when the Lord revealed Gideon to himself as a mighty man of valor. Judges 6:11-8:35

  • Esther received a revelation that she was born for a time such as this and became the deliver of the people of God. Book of Esther

  • Joseph became the chief counselor to Pharaoh and 2nd in command in Egypt when he received the purpose (who he was) for which he was sold into slavery and saved his family and the nation of Israel. Genesis 37:1-50:35

  • Daniel became the seer to the most powerful king in the earth as God revealed Himself to Daniel and used him to prophesy the future history of man. Book of Daniel

  • Simon Peter received a revelation of the Christ of God and that he was Peter (a rock) and preached one the greatest messages of all time and was martyred for the sake of the Lord and the gospel. Matthew 16:16

  • Paul received a revelation that he was persecuting Christ and that he was a chosen vessel to God to carry the gospel to the Gentile world. Acts 9:1-28:31

A revelation of God (sometimes instantly and often over a period of time) preceded a revelation of themselves. This was what empowered the heroes of faith to fulfill God’s will and execute his will in the earth. This revelation caused them to give up everything to follow the Lord.

The Lord Himself, as a man, was empowered by His knowledge of the Father and the knowledge of who He was and His purpose. I pray that the Lord would give each of us the necessary revelation of Him and us.
