In an effort to combat the rising tide of African Americans being
incarcerated and placed in foster care due to a “wilderness
mentality,” Dr. Jones founded Joshua Seed Ministries
in 1998. Recognizing that the lack of education and
“mis-education” created dangerous living conditions for many, she
refocused her energies from litigation and advocacy to
empowerment advocacy through ministry and education.
The No
Prison 2015 Program that Dr. Jones created in 2002, seeks
to significantly reduce the number of people of color and at risk
youth incarcerated by the year 2015. Over the years she has appeared
on several local D.C. and N.C. news programs, including repeat
appearances on CNN’s Burden of Proof.
Dr. Jones is
also a writer and artist. Her novels Zion Hill and A
Call to Gather will be published in 2007, through her
publishing business 120 Trumpets, a division of Jerzijazz
Artistries.
Dr. Jones is a graduate of
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and Georgetown
University Law Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Jones is the proud
mother of three. |
